Yohe Records Double-Double in Road Win

FOREST CITY, Iowa – The William Woods University men's basketball team held on for a second road win in as many days Sunday. The 84-82 win over Valley City State University notched the program's 200th win since its inception in 2007.

The Owls move to 3-4 after grabbing back-to-back road wins at the Waldorf Cobblestone Inn & Suites Classic.

How It Happened
The Owls put together an early 8-0 run to take a 10-point lead five minutes in, 13-3.
 
VCSU strung together an 11-0 run to pull in the lead with 8:32 on the clock, 19-17. The Owls almost immediately evened the score, but VCSU went back ahead and held the lead up until a 7-0 Owls' run put the team up by one with 2:01 left in the half, 32-31.
 
The lead changed three times over the remaining time, and VCSU held a two-point lead going into half, 37-25.
 
VCSU held the lead the majority of the first seven minutes of the second half.
 
Back-to-back layups from Spencer Yoggerst and Grant Peters put the Owls up by two with 12:15 on the clock. The lead again switched multiple times but a three from Fred Robinson put the Owls up by two with 6:44 on the clock, 69-67.
 
Nathan Schwartze followed with a three to give the Owls a five-point lead with 5:32 to play.
 
Two free throws from Peters put the Owls up by eight with 2:41 to go, but VCSU cut the game to three with just under to minutes on the clock, 78-75.
 
The Owls pushed the lead back to five three times. With 16 seconds on the clock, Schwartze drained two free throws to hold an 84-79 lead.
 
VCSU hit a three with :07 on the clock to bring the game within two. An Owls' turnover immediately following gave VCSU the change to win it at the buzzer but the last ditch attempt fell way short, ending with an Owls' 84-82 win.
