Owls’ Run Comes to an End in AMC Semifinals

COLUMBIA, Mo. – After winning game at home in the American Midwest Conference tournament this week, the third-seed William Woods University men's basketball team saw their run come to an end on Saturday afternoon. The team fell to Columbia College, 77-52. They concluded their season with a 18-14 record and lost only two games at home this season.
 
By The Numbers
12 – Spencer Yoggerst recorded 12 points while going 4-for-6 from the field and 4-for-6 from the foul line. He also added four rebounds and one assist.
11 – Darius Yohe scored 11 points (5-8 FG). He also added two blocks and two steals.
9 – Andrew Nett added nine points going 3-for-8 from the three-point line. He also pulled down six boards.
7 – Nathan Schwartze scored seven points. He dished in four assists and grabbed five rebounds.
 
Game Highlights
The Owls started the game with a bucket from Jared Crutcher to take a 2-0 lead but the Cougars responded with a three. Makenzie Fessler hit a jumper to grab the lead once again, but the Cougars scored the next seven points to take a six-point lead over the Owls, 10-4. Andrew Nett hit a tree to tie the game 14-14 with 12:46 left in the first period.
 
A layup from Darius Yohe gave the Owls the lead once again, 16-14. The Cougars answered with making the next seven points in a row to lead by seven. Nett drained two three-pointers to trail by three, 25-22, with 7:21 left in the first half. The Cougars ignited a 23-6 run to go into halftime with a 41-28 lead over the Owls.
 
The Cougars had a 14-4 run to take a 23-point lead over the Owls, 55-32. Spencer Yoggerst scored a bucket and two free-throws to trail by 21. Two buckets and one a free-throw from Yohe had the Owls trail by 23, 64-41. Nathan Schwartze hit a three followed by a bucket from Yohe helped the Owls trail by 18. The Cougars had a 13-6 run to end the game with a win and advance to the finals. 
 
In the end, the Owls fell by a final score of 77-52.
 
Number two-seed Columbia will face the winner of Central Baptist and Missouri Baptist in the finals of the American Midwest Conference tournament.
 
Playing their final game as an Owl, Senior Andrew Nett scored nine points while Makenzie Fessler scored four points.
