Owls Take Care of Business Against UHSP

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team took care of business tonight at University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy with a 73-59 victory. The Owls improve to 15-11 overall and 9-3 in conference play. 
 
Junior Darius Yohe is one block away from breaking his own record in the WWU Record Book with most blocked shots in a single season.
 
The Owls will travel next to Conway, Ar. for another AMC game against Central Baptist on Thursday, Feb. 11. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
 
By The Numbers
92.3 – The Owls went 92.3% from the free-throw line.
19 – Darius Yohe led the floor with 19 points while going 7-7 on the FT line. He was two rebounds away from posting a double-double.
18 – Spenser Yoggerst added 18 points to the win.
16 – Makenzie Fessler recorded a double-double with 16 points (6-8 FG, 4-4 FT) and a team-high of 10 rebounds.
14 – Nathan Schwartze scored 14 points and dished in seven assists.
 
Game Highlights
A rebound from Jared Crutcher passing to Makenzie Fessler to hit a layup and help the Owls on a 13-2 run to start the game. UHSP responded with a jumper but Spencer Yoggerst quickly answered right back with a bucket to extend the Owls' lead to 11-point with 11:08 left in the first half, 15-4.
 
UHSP went and scored a field goal and a three-point but Darius Yohe followed by two dunks in a row. Nathan Schwartze grabbed the rebound of a blocked shot from Yohe to hit a three with 5:36 left. Crutcher made two free-throws and then assisted Makenzie Fessler on a layup to end the first half, 33-20.
 
Schwartze missed a jumper but Yoggerst was on board of grabbing the offensive rebound who assisted Fessler on a layup extending the lead to 15 points. Crutcher missed a layup but he was able to grab the rebound and was fouled on the line, he made one free-throw, 49-35.
 
UHSP had a 18-9 run and the Owls were leading by only five with 5:11 left. 
 
Both Fessler and Yohe made both free-throws to extend the lead once again to 13-point, 70-57. Yoggerst scored the final three points of the game to help the Owls with a 14-point win, 73-59.
