FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's tennis team swept Ottawa University Friday afternoon. The team improves to 3-3 on the season.
The Owls jumped out to a 1-0 after doubles play with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
In No. 1 doubles,
Vitek Subert and
Vaclav Schneider took down Andris Gudins and Scott Hjelm Jr, 7-6. In No. 2 doubles,
Ben Grumley and
Nathan Cooke defeated Luke Graham and Erik Czapinski, 6-4.
In singles,
Vitek Subert,
Nathan Cooke and
Robert Schorr held their opponent scoreless winning 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 spot, respectively.
In No. 1 singles, Schneider defeated Gudins 4-6, 7-6(1), 6-0. In No. 2 singles, Grumley earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Hjelm Jr. In No. 3 singles, Shelepov grabbed a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jhoel Quinonez.
The No. 16 Owls will travel to No. 13 University of the Cumberlands on Monday, Mar. 7 at 10 a.m.
