FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team fell to northwestern College, 2-1, Thursday evening. The team moves to 0-1 on the season.
With 11:16 on the clock, Northwestern scored the first goal of the game from the right side of the field just outside the box.
The Owls had attempted two more shots on goal with
Cindy Gonzalez that went too high and
Sam Poehlmann that went too wide on the right side.
The game went into half time with the Owls trailing 1-0.
After a shot by
Mackenzie Boyle that was blocked, Boyle passed the ball to Poehlmann who found the back of the net to tie the game 1-1, with 52:17 on the clock.
With 75:06 on the clock, Northwestern scored the final goal of the game to take the lead and the win, 2-1.
The Owls outshot Northwestern, 16-7.
The Owls return to action on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 1 p.m. versus Hastings College at home.
