OTTAWA, Kan. – The William Woods University volleyball team split at the Ottawa Invitational Friday afternoon. They opened the tournament with a loss to host RV Ottawa, but the team bounced back with a 3-0 sweep over Friends to end the day.
The Owls finish out the Ottawa Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17, with a 10 a.m. match versus Hastings (Neb.).

How It Happened
A kill from
Lauren Adams sparked a 6-0 Owls' run to put the team in the lead, and two aces from Adams pushed the lead to four, 15-11. A 3-0 run with a kill from
Kennedy Lane, Adams' third ace and a solo block from
Ella Lewis ended the set, 25-19.
A 5-0 Owls' run doubled Friends' lead in set two, and a 4-0 run a few points later featuring two blocks and two kills put the Owls up 15-7. The Owls maintained the lead and a kill from Lane gave the Owls the 25-20 win.
Set three started out much closer than the first two, but the Owls put together an 8-1 run to take a 17-8 lead. The Owls didn't look back and closed out the match with a 25-15 win.
