BELLEVUE, Neb. – The William Woods University volleyball team split at day two of the 2022 Labor Day Classic hosted by Bellevue University. The Owls opened the day with a 3-1 win over Oklahoma City University but closed out the tournament with a 3-1 loss to Embry-Riddle University (Fla.).
Next up for the Owls is three matches at the Park Classic starting on Friday, Sept. 9.

A 5-0 run with two kills from
Riley Alton, a kill from
Lauren Adams and a kill from
Paige Lamm gave the Owls an early 10-6 lead in set one. OCU attempted to close the gap, but two Owls' blocks and kills from Lamm and Adams put together a 5-0 run to bring the set to 23-16, Owls. A kill from Lamm brought the Owls to set point, and a kill from Adams won the set, 25-18.
A 4-0 run near the beginning of set two evened the score for the Owls, and another 4-0 run with two kills from Adams and
Lanie Lowry, an OCU attack error and a block from
Kassidy Phillips and Adams gave the Owls a 16-12 lead. OCU closed out the set with an 8-1 run to win the set and even the match at 1-1.
Following a back-and-forth beginning to set three, the Owls concocted a 12-2 run to close out the set with a 25-17 win.
Madi Bruce served up three aces in her seven serves.
The Owls continued their success into set four as the blasted a 5-0 run to start the set with three points coming from
Erin Treis' aces. After an attack error, the Owls put up three more to take an 8-1 lead. The Owls closed out the match with a 4-0 run, ending with a block from Alton and Adams, 25-18.

Set two was a close back-and-forth set up until the very end. The lead changed four times with eight ties, but ERU scored three straight to end it with a 25-22 win, evening the match at 1-1.
The Owls evened the score three times in set three but were never unable to catch up to ERU.
ERU strung together a 10-1 run early in set four to take a 16-5 lead. The Owls were unable to recover, ending with a 25-15 loss.
