FULTON, Mo. - William Woods (21-8, 4-3 AMC) sent its senior class out in style on Friday night, sweeping past Central Baptist College (11-10, 2-3 AMC) 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-16) to close out the home portion of the regular season.
Lanie Lowry was the standout for WWU's offense, knocking down a dozen of the Owls 38 kills.
Paige Lamm (7) and
Kassidy Phillips (6) were also strong on the night for WWU, with Lamm also adding six blocks.
After an emotional Senior Day ceremony, William Woods got off to a slow start, allowing Central Baptist to open up an 11-10 lead. After a Mustangs service error tied the first set at 11-11, WWU continued on an 8-1 run and closed out the set 25-15 winners.
WWU's start to the second set was anything but slow, as the Owls raced out to an 8-2 lead and allowed CBC just two short runs en route to a 25-11 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.

Kandace Cook tinkered with her lineup again in the third set, but WWU continued to cruise, opening with a 6-2 run and capping off the evening with an Adams kill to pick up the 25-16 third set win.
The Owls held Central Baptist to a .000 hitting percentage on the night while connecting at a .252 pace of their own. Woods racked up 11 blocks and four service aces alongside 38 kills.
William Woods closes out the regular season with a pair of road matches, first at UHSP on Thursday, Oct. 28. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
