Chance Joost shuffled his lineup around slightly for Saturday's match against University of Saint Mary, moving Ben Grimley and
Zinovii Nahirniak to the number one doubles slot and partnering
Vitek Subert with
Vaclav Schneider in the two slot. The move paid off as William Woods (2-0) needed just under two hours to blast past the Spires (1-1) 7-0.
Woods needed less than 20 minutes to wrap up the doubles point, as
Andres De Los Rios Kolejewska and
Robert Schorr swept past Leyton Ross and Demitri Serrano 6-0 and Schneider and Subert downed Will Ogrizovich and Jackson Contrucci 6-1. Grimley and Nahirniak wrapped up the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win over Kevin Eutsey and Evan Maritz.
The Owls worked just as quickly on the singles side, dispatching the Spires with 6-0, 6-0 sweeps in all but the number two singles match. Nahirniak battled Maritz for just over an hour, but held off the challenge easily in a 6-2, 6-2 win.
William Woods wraps up its fall competition schedule with a pair of reserve matches against the Spires next weekend then competition in the ITA Cup on Oct. 20.
