COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team fell to one-seed Columbia College in the semifinal round of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championship Saturday afternoon. The 76-60 loss concludes the Owls' season, finishing with a 15-13 overall record.
Columbia will now host Central Baptist in the championship game of the AMC Tournament.

Columbia maintained the lead for the first 14 minutes of the game.
A jumper from
Nathan Schwartze with 5:32 on the clock put the Owls ahead. Columbia evened the score, but the Owls closed out the last three minutes with an 8-1 run with points coming from
Darius Yohe and
Abdulh Diaby to take a seven-point lead heading into halftime, 30-23.
A jumper from Diaby kicked off the second half, giving the Owls their largest lead of the game (9).
Columbia cut the game to three twice, and a 13-2 run including six free throws but Columbia on top by four with just over half to go, 44-40.
A layup from
Fred Robinson brought the Owls within two, but Columbia responded with a 13-1 run to put out a 14-point lead with 4:44 to play, 59-45. The Owls were unable to recover and eventually lost, 76-60.
