Jonathan Bauer led William Woods University men's bowling with a 10th-place finish out of 89 as the Owls opened their season in the Lions Match Play Classic on Saturday and Sunday at St. Charles Lanes. En route to the top-10 placing, Bauer recorded 617 total pins (205.7 average game score) over three games.
William Woods took sixth out of seven varsity teams with 4,910 pins between three traditional and 12 Baker games. The Owls had 2,749 pins in traditional matches (916.33 average game score) and 2,161 (180.08 average) in Baker contests.
Following Bauer, WWU's
Patrick Schultz finished 15th with 612 pins (204 average game score), Charles Burns 25th with 579 (193 average),
Cameron Snow 43rd with 478 (159.3 average) and
Cori Xaynouvong 45th with 463 (154.3 average).
Host Lindenwood University swept the team and individual titles. The Lions tallied 5,446 pins (3,149 traditional and 2,297 Baker) to top the team leaderboard by 148 pins. LU was led by individual champion Emmanuel McPherson, who had 757 pins (252.3 average game score), 96 ahead of the runner-up.
The Owls are back at the lanes for the McKendree Match Games, hosted by McKendree University from Nov. 23-24 at St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights, Ill.
