ATCHINSON, KS – William Woods University (18-9, 9-6 Heart) had a quick turnaround as they went just down the road to face off against Benedictine College (11-13, 7-8 Heart).
With the Owls looking for a bounce-back match, they would hop out to a quick lead in the first set. With the Woods' front line dominating and keeping a sizable lead for the Owls, highlighted by
Pamela Durazo and
Roberta Carlos de Silva, each with 4 kills en route to a 25-21 set win over Benedictine.
With Woods in the driver's seat, they would keep the pressure on with two service aces from Luciana Pavia Pereira and a healthy lead over the Ravens. With Pamela leading the Owls once again and
Erin Treis adding two kills, it would be too much for Benedictine. Despite a last-minute run, the Owls would bring in another set win 25-18.
Heading into the third set of the match with a 2-0 lead, the Owls had to fight as the Ravens would not go quietly. But, behind 6 kills from Luciana, the Owls would outlast the Ravens in the last set of the match with a 25-21 win and a 3-0 match sweep.
William Woods is back against the Spartans from Missouri Baptist next Tuesday, the 28
th, looking to ride their momentum as the year starts to slow down. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Anderson Arena.
