FULTON, Mo. – William Woods men's soccer (7-6-4, 4-5-4 Heart) wrapped up its regular season Saturday evening with a 0–0 draw against Benedictine (Kan.) (7-7-4, 4-6-3 Heart) at the North Campus Athletic Complex. With the win, the Owls secured the eighth seed in the Heart of America Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.
The match, which doubled as Senior Day for the Owls, saw both teams create moments of promise but neither side was able to break through in the contest.
Matthew Dworak anchored the defensive side for The Woods, recording three saves while earning his third clean sheet of the year. The back line—led by veterans Rodrigo Franco, Josh Seyer, and Kyle Kaemmerer—kept the Ravens to just seven total shots and three on frame.
Offensively, the Owls generated seven corner kicks and five total shots. Fabio Juricko and Alejo Marcaccini each forced saves in the first half, while Marlon Swaby's late effort in the 78th minute nearly put the Owls ahead before Benedictine's keeper turned it aside.
William Woods moves to 7-6-4 overall and 4-5-4 in Heart of America play, closing its first season in Heart play.
With the Owls securing the eighth seed, they will travel to Grand View University for round one of the Heart of America Conference Tournament. Details will be provided on wwuowls.com when they become available.
