ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Owls hit the road Monday night and bounced back in a big way, taking down UHSP (2-8) 83-66 in a strong all-around performance.
William Woods (5-7, 2-4 Heart) set the tone early, coming out with confidence and building a double-digit lead behind efficient shooting and active defense. The Owls would knock down eight threes and hold UHSP to just 22 points.
Demarco Buchanan and
Oshae Barquet sparked the early push, combining for 22 first-half points as the Owls went into the half up 43-22.
Out of the half, the Owls continued to roll. UHSP would start to fight back, but the Owls had an answer every time, maintaining their commanding lead.
Mark Onyejekwe delivered another strong showing on both ends, finishing with eight points and four steals, while
Brock Davis added six points, six rebounds, and three blocks inside.
Demarco Buchanan led the scoring with 16 points, and
Oshae Barquet was right behind him with 13 points. Big man Jacob Labounty also put up 12 points with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks.
The Owls are back in action Saturday in Cedar Rapids to play Mount Mercy University. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
