FULTON, Mo. - (RV) William Woods University (1-1) opened its home schedule with a dominant attacking display, shutting out Concordia University (0-2) 2-0 in the process Thursday afternoon at North Campus Athletic Complex.

Tommy Nienhaus said. "We do, however, need to be more ruthless in our finishing. We arguably should have scored five to six. Good solid team effort with the shutout, and got plenty of contributions from the bench. A good way to start at home. Priority shifts to Monday!"

That was the only goal of the first half as William Woods outshot Concordia nine (four on goal) to two (one on goal) through the first 45 minutes. Both teams had more scoring chances in the second half - WWU had 11 shots (six on goal) to CUNE's four (one on goal) - but the Owls ended up being the only ones taking advantage of them.

Matthew Dworak earned his first clean sheet and win of the year for Woods, stopping two Bulldogs' shots. Given a new forward role this year, Andrews showcased a lively attacking effort with a match-high seven shots and three shots on net in 73 minutes of action.
The Owls seek to keep their winning ways going when they conclude their two-match homestand with what's sure to be a fun Labor Day matchup versus former AMC opponent Columbia College (2-0) at 1 p.m. Monday.
