Box Score OSKALOOSA, IA – The William Woods Owls (11-3, HAAC 4-1) hit the road to take on the William Penn Statesmen (13-7, HAAC 3-2) in an action-packed Heart of America Conference match up.
The Statesmen came out hot in the first set as they got out to a quick 11-6 lead that forced the Owls to take a timeout in the first set. Despite a late set comeback, the Statesmen would put the nail in the coffin for the first set to win 25-21.
The Owls came back with a vengeance in the second set as they went on an 8-1 run with 5 kills coming from
Luciana Paiva Pereira. The Owls would use that to dominate, as they also got a 5-kill performance from
Ivi Marcolino to win the second set 25-12

rd set of the match would bring a more competitive aspect as the Owls and the Statesmen would trade punches back and forth. As the owls' front line continued to dominate in the 3
rd set, with the help of Erin Tries with 9 assists, they took the 3
rd set 25-19 and a 2-1 set lead into the 4
th set.
With the Owls looking to put the nail in the coffin, the Statesmen would not go away easily as they kept fighting and pacing with the Owls. With the Owls keeping the pressure on, the Statesmen would go through both of their timeout with still no answer for the Owls as they would finish the 4
th set strong with a kill from Luciana to give the Owls a 25-20 set and a 3-1 match win over the Statesmen to move to a 12-3 record and 5-1 HAAC record.
The Owls will be staying in Iowa as they take on a Grand View team that is riding a 7-game winning streak tomorrow at 2:00 pm at the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center.
