OSKALOOSA, Iowa— Owls soccer (4-6-1, 2-5-1 Heart) continued its Heart of America Athletic Conference schedule with a trip to William Penn University (7-0-5, 5-0-3 Heart) on Saturday afternoon. The Woods surrendered six goals in a 6-0 loss to the powerhouse Statesmen program.
William Penn opened the scoring just shy of the fourth-minute mark. WPU's Max Mayer lofted a shot over the Owls' keeper following a well-placed pass from midfielder Jarred Henricks. The Statesmen struck again just 12 minutes later as Nick Nkansa-Dwamena beat the Owls' backline to extend the lead.
Penn added its third goal of the first half in the 35th minute, quickly turning defense into offense following an Owls corner kick. The Statesmen played a long ball out of their backline and found the back of the net before the Woods defense could recover.
The second half followed a similar script, with WPU adding three more goals. The Statesmen struck in the 59th minute before finding the back of the net twice in quick succession in the 66th and 67th minutes to complete the scoring.
Woods recorded eight shots in the contest, putting three on target. William Penn generated 25 shots, including 13 on goal, while the Owls' keeper finished with seven saves.
The Owls return to the pitch Tuesday afternoon for a home matchup against Central Methodist.
