ALTON, Ill.— Woods golf traveled to the Spencer T. Olin Community Golf Course for the Missouri Baptist University Fall Classic. The Owls exceeded expectations, earning top podium marks on the men's and fell just short of the podium on the women's side.
In a deadlock for fifth place, the Owls were once again led by Josie Arms. The sophomore shot +15 on the two-day event, finishing in sixth place overall to pace The Woods. Kylie Miller (T-18), Jazmin Usandizaga (T-24), and Morgan Crist (T-27) rounded out the Owls countable scores with Addison Hentz marking the five at a 42nd place finish.
For the men, Esteban Ramonet earned his first collegiate podium finish and first collegiate title with a two-under tournament. The freshman from France shot three-under-par on day two to cement his comeback victory after a one-over day through the first 18.
The Owls 'A' team carted home the team first place finish, just beating out the 'B' team for top spot. Led by Victor Vella and Alfred Goransson (both T-5), The Woods finished +15 on the tournament despite a very windy day two. Euan Hardie (T-12), Tom Kolter (T-16) and Mitchell Redmayne (T-28) rounded out the 'A' team's score. Woods 'B' team, paced by Ramonet, boasted three top ten finishers with Marcos Soria Casaponsa and Makian Maydew in a deadlock for the ten-spot. CMU rounded out the podium on the men's side with Heart foe Missouri Baptist finishing in fifth place.
The Owls return to the links Oct. 19th at the Virginia McCoy Invitational hosted by Park.
