CREVE COEUR, Mo.— Woods women's soccer (4-6, 2-5 Heart) tallied their fourth win of the season with a three-to-nil leveling of Heart foe Missouri Baptist (1-7-2, 0-5-2 Heart). The Owls took a commanding first half lead and added an insurance goal in the second half to cement their conference victory.
Ray Laster sparked the offense for the Owls in just the 20th minute of play. Laster received the pass from Claudia Rodriguez on the far side of the field, and slotted home her first goal of the season.
The Spartans threatened just two minutes later after a corner kick was awarded to the MBU attack. The pass from the corner was immaculate to the box where the Missouri Baptist shot was collected by Sierra Hahn between the posts.
William Woods extended their advantage moments before the midway intermission when Kirsten Kramer found the back of the net. Kramer, a transfer junior from John Wood CC, has had a stellar season off the bench for the Owls, igniting the offense when called upon. On her third goal of the season, Kramer unleashed on a beautiful pass from winger Olivia Menard and beat the keeper to give Woods a two-to-nil advantage at the break.
Sophomore midfielder Addie Robins notched the last goal of the day for the Owls. After beating her defender, Robins fired a shot to the far post that just missed the arms of the Missouri Baptist keeper.
The Owls back line was solid all night, rejecting waves of MBU attacks.
Woods returns to the pitch this weekend with a matchup at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
