FULTON, Mo. - William Woods Women's Wrestling found themselves in Anderson Arena for the final time this season against conference opponent Missouri Valley. Of the seven matches wrestled, the Owls earned two wins in the 44-5 loss to the Vikings.
The #9 wrestler in the 138-pound weight class,
Teani Medeiros-Maielua, was looking for a bounce back after dropping a pair of matches in Iowa over the weekend. Needless to say, the junior grappler is back on track. In just 1:56, Medeiros-Maielua flipped what was a seemingly tight bout on its head, pinning her opponent and earning the Woods' sole points of the night.
The other victory for WWU came from an extra match at 110 pounds.
Candace Calvert earned herself an individual win by fall in just 2:10, ending the night for William Woods with some fireworks.
Owls Women's Wrestling is back for one final regular season appearance as they head to Baldwin City, Kan. on Feb. 14 for the Jimmy May Open.Â
