Offensive Struggles Hinder Owls

DES MOINES, Iowa. – William Woods (2-20, 2-15 Heart) ran into a tough Grand View (18-7, 15-2 Heart) on the road Saturday, as the Owls would fall 72-37.

The Owls battled early, but Grand View set the tone defensively and never let William Woods find a rhythm on the offensive end. The Vikings jumped out in front and carried a double-digit lead into halftime, holding the Owls to 12 first-half points.

William Woods showed fight coming out of the break, but Grand View continued to control the pace and capitalized on turnovers to stretch the lead. The Vikings would ride this momentum as the Owls' offense could not get anything going, and they would fall to the Vikings, 72-37.

Mariah Prince led the Owls in scoring with 13 points and 11 rebounds, with Abby Alivernia putting up 9 points, going 2-3 from behind the arc.

The Owls will look to regroup as they head to Olathe on Wednesday to face MidAmerica Nazarene at 5:30 p.m.
