FULTON, Mo.- In their first ever meeting, William Woods University men's tennis program handily defeated (RV) Goshen College. In a day that saw wind speeds up to 20 miles per hour, the Owls were able to take every match but #4 and #6 singles. 

The Owls started the match off securing the highly coveted doubles point with all three-pairings earning the win. The first to finish was the top pair of Noah Burton and Duarte Melo, who bested their opponents on a 6-2 scoreline. Cole Horton and Jesper Seger continue to dominate out of the #2 doubles position with a stifling 6-0 victory to secure the first point of the match in favor of the Owls. Bruno Matta and Paulo Lopes Ferrieria also secured the win in #3 singles, but were the last to finish their set so it did not count towards match point.  

Carrying over the momentum from a dominating doubles performance, William Woods saw four individual wins as well. All three of the top half of The Woods' lineup bested their opponents in consecutive sets to clinch the match win. Tomas Guadagni, in the #5 singles position, also defeated his opponent in the minimum.  

William Woods returns for a reserve match on Friday at Southwest Illinois Community College, followed by a home matchup against Concordia (Neb.) on Saturday.
