Owls Dominate in Pair of 7-0 Wins

LAWRENCE, Kan.- William Woods men's tennis collected two victories to start their spring break road trip, with wins over Sterling College and Baker University Saturday afternoon. The Owls dominated both games, winning by 7-0 scorelines.

In match one, Woods took the doubles point with all three Owls' tandems winning their set. In singles play, Woods won all but two sets with Duarte Melo, Thomas Geukemeijer, Tomas Guadagni, and Hristov Alexander all winning their matches in straight sets. Noah Burton and Paulo Lopes Ferreira both went the distance with their opponents before winning in set three to secure the thrashing 7-0 victory over Sterling.

The Owls carried their momentum into match two on the day, facing a Heart of America Athletic Conference opponent in Baker University. William Wood secured the doubles point on stellar play from top pairing Tobias Hajek and Cole Horton and the grouping of Bruno Matta and Lopes Ferreira. William Woods would go on to completely shutout the Wildcats in singles play, not losing a set for six matches.

William Woods returns tomorrow with an exhibition matchup against Pratt Community College before playing Bethel College on Monday.
