MARSHALL, Mo.— William Woods golf, in their second tournament of the season, traveled to Missouri Valley University for the Viking Invitational. The Vikings, a perennial top 25 team, found themselves atop the men's leaderboards while on the other side Columbia College's women squad took home the trophy.
For the Owls, standout transfer Josie Arms continues to turn heads with a third-place, podium finish to lead the Owls to a fourth-place team finish. Jazmin Usandizaga earned a ninth-place finish as Morgan Crist and Kylie Miller continue to improve in their inaugural collegiate season. The Owls finished just outside the top three, falling behind the Central Methodist Eagles.
Results
On the men's half, the WWU B team performed the best out of the Owls four squads competing. Shooting 12 over par, the WWU B team was led by newcomer Makian Maydew. The transfer from Garden City Community College delivered a masterful four-under performance to lift the 'B' squad to a fifth-place finish. WWU's Alvaro Ruiz Lopez, Victor Vella, and Alfred Goransson all tied for 14th-place shooting one-over on the two-day event.
Results
The Woods is back in action next week at the CMU Classic hosted by Central Methodist University. Historically, the Owls have performed very well at the event. Most recently winning the tournament on both sides just last fall. Tee-time is set for the morning of September 21st.
