Alex Kazmierski enters his first season as an assistant coach for the William Woods University baseball team.
Kazmierski joins the Owls, after playing two years at Webster University, where he helped guide the Gorloks to two fifth place finishes at the Division III Baseball World Series in 2012 and 2013. He finished his career hitting a .319 at the plate and ranked in the top-20 all-time in several categories, that included most home runs 13 (eighth), most walks 38 (15th), most runs batted in 69 (tied-20th), highest fielding percentage .986 (12th), highest slugging percentage .528 (14th) and highest on base percentage .424 (15th).
During the 2012 season alone, Kazmierski collected numerous single-season rankings, which involved, most home runs 7 (tied-11th), most doubles 14 (10th), most walks 24 (ninth) and most intentional walks 4 (first). He was a two time SLIAC Player of the Week and Diamond Sports Hitter of the Week honoree while earning first team All-Conference and second team All-Central Region selections. Kazmierski, also was named Webster University’s The Journal Male Newcomer of the Year and received considerations for the Rawlings ABCA 2012 All-American team.
In his 2013 senior campaign, Kazmierski was a two time Diamond Sports Hitter of the Week and Webster University Athlete of the Week, while being named D3Baseball.com Team of the Week. In addition, he was selected first team All-Conference and earned MVP at the Regional Tournament on the year.
Prior to Webster University, Kazmierski played his first two collegiate baseball seasons at Triton Junior College, where he was a member of the All-Star baseball team in 2011.
The Orland Park, Illinois native, is a 2013 graduate from Webster University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Studies.
While at William Woods Kazmierski will be pursuing a Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration.Â
