Coach Niesen

Eric Niesen

Eric Niesen enters his second season as an assistant coach for the William Woods men’s soccer team. Niesen, a Fort Dodge, Iowa native is a Magna Cumme Laude graduate of Minnesota State University-Mankato with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education.

Prior to Minnesota State University-Mankato, Niesen earned an Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Central Community College. While at Iowa Central, Eric was a two year starter for the men’s soccer team and got to play for Coach Nathan Mason during the fall of the 2007 season.

He concluded his two seasons at Iowa Central as a two-time first team Academic All-Region member (2007, 2008) and also was an honorable mention on the All-Region team (2008).

At Fort Dodge Senior High School, Niesen was a four year varsity letter winner and accumulated multiple awards. He made the CIML All-Conference first team his junior and senior seasons, earned second team All-Conference honors his sophomore year and honorable mention All-Conference freshman year. At the conclusion of his four years at Fort Dodge, Niesen was the second all-time leading scorer in Fort Dodge history.

At the club level for six seasons (1997-2003), Niesen played for the Fort Dodge Soccer Association.

Niesen plans on pursuing a Masters of Education degree in Athletic Administration.
