Ivan Lloay joined the William Woods University men's soccer coaching staff in 2023, bringing
professional coaching, tactical analysis, goalkeeper development and scouting experience from
both South America and the United States.
Since joining the Owls, Lloay has contributed to the tactical preparation and development of the
program. In 2024, he was part of the staff named AMC Coaching Staff of the Year after
William Woods completed an undefeated conference regular season and captured the American
Midwest Conference regular-season championship. The Owls also produced a historic defensive
campaign, finishing conference regular-season play without conceding a goal.
Lloay has also served as Acting Head Coach for multiple matches, overseeing team preparation
and game-day operations. He remained part of the staff during William Woods' transition to the
Heart of America Athletic Conference, helping the program qualify for postseason competition
in its inaugural season of Heart play.
A native of Ecuador, Lloay has professional experience as a first assistant coach and tactical
video analyst with Chacaritas FC, second assistant and video analyst with Centro Deportivo
Olmedo, and tactical video analyst with Ecuadorian Serie A club Mushuc Runa SC.
In addition to his role at William Woods, Lloay is the Founder and Director of Scouting for
Smart Football LLC and serves as an assistant coach with Sun City FC of the NPSL. His work
focuses on international recruitment, tactical analysis, scouting and individual player
development.
Lloay holds a CONMEBOL PRO Coaching License and has completed specialized education
in tactical video analysis, performance analysis and scouting through institutions including
ATFA and Barça Universitas. He is fluent in Spanish and English and conversational in
Portuguese
