Samantha Heck is in her second year as an assistant coach for the William Woods University women’s basketball team.
Heck, a 2013 graduate from the University of Evansville, is one of only four players to score 1,300 points. She finished her career for the Aces ranked in the top 10 all-time in numerous categories that include blocks 83 (fourth), rebounds 745 (fifth), field goals 505 (sixth) and points (seventh).
During the 2013 season alone, Heck was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) second team, after leading the Aces in points per game (14.6), field goal percentage (49.1%) and blocks (24). She also knocked in 91.3 percent of her shots from the free throw line, which is the second-best single-season performance from the charity stripe in program history.
Heck was also selected to Colorado Universities Omni Hotels Classic All-Tournament team, after she broke the tournament’s field goal percentage record (43.3 percent) and single-game field goal percentage record (7-for-7) vs. Eastern Washington.
She graduated locally at North Callaway High School in 2009. There, she compiled over 2,000 career points, 1,200 rebounds and nearly 500 assists over her high school career, despite playing in just over 100 games.
Heck led the state of Missouri in rebounding as a senior, with an average of 13.9 rebounds per game. She was a three-time all-Missouri selection, while also garnering second-team all-state honors as a freshman. She once scored 40 points in a game against Tipton High School and also recorded a 20-point, 14-rebound, and 10-steal triple-double performance against South Callaway.
While at William Woods, Heck will be pursuing a master’s degree in Athletic Administration.
