Lauren Meier

Lauren Meier became the William Woods University men's and women's tennis coach during the summer of 2014.

Meier joins the Owls after spending the last two seasons at Georgia Gwinnett College as the assistant men's and women's tennis coach, where she helped deliver GGC with its first-ever national titles in men's and women's tennis during the 2014 season.

The men's program went a perfect 21-0 this past year, while the women went 18-4. The two tennis teams' combined for 14 NAIA All-Americans, including five first-team selections, while defeating top competition from NCAA Division I, II and III throughout the year.

While at GGC, Meier was named the2014 ITA/NAIA Regional Men's and Women's Assistant Coach of the Year and was instrumental in building the brand-new Georgia Gwinnett Grizzles tennis program to compete and win on the national level.

She has experience in player motivation that produced five NAIA All-American women athletes, was in-charge of coordinating and implementing both men's and women's player administrative requirements that included scholarship negotiations, housing, class schedules, travel, equipment and training while adhering to the ITA/NAIA bylaws.

Prior to joining the Grizzles, Meier spent two seasons as the assistant women's tennis coach at Georgia State University. After just six months of working as a volunteer, Georgia State promoted her to a full time assistant.

There, she was skillful in competition coaching, resulting in upset victories and helping Georgia State to a 2012 Colonial Athletic Association finals appearance. She also led domestic recruiting, where she initiated initial contact with recruits and organized/prepared recruiting visits.

Meier is a graduate from the University of Kentucky with a degree in business marketing, where she competed four seasons for the Wildcats tennis team. She advanced to the NCAA Tournament third round in her freshman season in 2008 and helped the team earn three upset victories on the year.

While completing her marketing degree at UK, Meier was an intern in the University of Kentucky Athletics Department and was responsible for marketing and promoting corporate sponsors for UK Athletics.

Meier also spent one seasons as the assistant girls tennis coach at Henry Clay High School. She coached and supervised 50 high school girls and led the team to a Kentucky High School State Appearance.
