Biography

Karyna has been playing tennis since she was 9. She started to participate in Ukrainian tennis tournaments when she was 12 and internationally when she was 14. Karyna was in the Top 20 among all Ukrainian tennis players under 16 and 18 years old. She was also in the top 10 among seniors when she was 18. Internationally, Karyna is in the top 300. In 2013, she finished in both doubles and singles play at the Ukrainian Winter Open. In the same year, Karyna had a second place finish in doubles and advanced to the semifinals at the Masters in Kiev. When she was 16, she was invited to move to Portugal from the coach of her doubles partner and join their team. She played for Felner Tennis Academy for two years before and was ranked 32 in Portugal. Before coming to the United States, she took part in three tournaments in Portugal, which was highlighted by a gold medal capture in singles action at the Open S. Pedro 2014 Seniors Tournament. Prior to that, she finished in second place in singles play at the Caldas Ada Rainha Tournament. She finished third at the Praia de Rey, also in singles action. She was nominated as Player of the Year in Krivoy Rog.
