Ashley Nehls

Ashley Nehls enters her second season as the head coach for the Owls Volleyball program. She became the 11th head coach for the Owls Volleyball program when she was hired in January 2016. 

In her first season, Nehls led the Owls to a 26-9 record during the 2017 season. The 26 wins were the most for the program since 2009 when the team won 29 games. WWU went 9-3 in conference and finished fourth. During the season, the Owls won 16 straight contests. WWU had one player named First Team All-AMC, two named Second Team All-AMC and three named All-AMC Honorable Mention. Not only did the players succeed on the court but also off. The Owls had nine players earn Academic All-AMC honors.

Nehls came to William Woods after serving as a Club Volleyball Head coach for H2 Columbia and Dodge City Community College, where she was the head coach from 2013-2016. While at Dodge City CC, Nehls teams had 20 plus Academic All-Americans had a team GPA of 3.6 and above and she had four players transfer to NCAA Division I programs.
 
Prior to becoming the head coach at Dodge City CC, Nehls served as the assistant coach for two seasons.

Prior to coaching the Conquistadors, Nehls led three different high school programs. Nehls was the head volleyball coach and physical education teacher at Emporia High, Concordia High, and most recently Dodge City High.

Before starting her coaching career, Nehls was a captain for the Butler Community College Volleyball team from 2004-2006. During her time at Butler, she led the Lady Grizzlies in aces and was named best all-around player her sophomore year.

After Butler, she received her Bachelor of Science in Education in Health and Physical Education from Emporia State University. Following her Bachelors, Nehls received her master’s degree in Health and Physical Education and Recreation from Emporia State University.  

Nehls and her husband, Brock and two kids Kyndal and Hudson, reside in Fulton, Missouri.
