Ahead of William Woods University's first season in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, Aubrey Wilson took the reins of Owls in January 2025.
Wilson comes to The Woods after spending the last two seasons (2023-24) as the head coach and the 2022 campaign as an assistant of NJCAA Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas. In that role, she created game plans and scouting reports, designed and executed practice plans, recruited and filled the roster, ran offseason and in-season conditioning workouts, planned road trips, organized and oversaw study halls, took and organized stats, cut videos and made highlight videos for her student-athletes.
In Wilson's first season at Seward County (2022), the Saints finished as NJCAA Division I Region VI Tournament champions and made a trip to the 2022 NJCAA National Tournament. During Wilson's tenure at SCCC, she coached middle blocker Seyun Park, a first-team NJCAA Division I All-American, second-team AVCA All-American and KJCCC Most Valuable Player in '22, along with four All-KJCCC players - setter Rafaela DaSilva (second team) in '23 and Park (first team), DaSilva (first team), outside hitter Sarah Cruz (first team) and right-side hitter Aubreigh Haxton (honorable mention) in '22. On top of coaching award-winning players, Wilson's Seward County volleyball team finished with the highest team GPA of all SCCC athletic teams.
Before joining Seward County's coaching staff, Wilson began her college coaching career at NCAA Division II Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where she was an assistant from 2021-22 and graduate assistant from 2019-21. While at Henderson State, the Reddies made the Great American Conference Tournament all three seasons and had over 20-win seasons in both non-COVID seasons. Wilson coached two-time Great American Defensive Player of the Year (2020-21), libero Makenzie Thoman, Spring 2021 Great American Newcomer of the Year, outside hitter Violeta Mendoza Quintana and several All-Great American players and Academic All-Great American members. Â
Outside of her college coaching experience, Wilson began coaching club volleyball annually in 2016 and working volleyball camps annually in 2014, and she still does both currently. Regarding volleyball camps, Wilson has been involved in a variety of them, including her own camp, and she's traveled the United States working the EXACT volleyball camps.
Wilson played for three and was at four college volleyball programs. She began her college playing career as a setter/right-side hitter from 2014-15 at NJCAA Division I Hutchinson Community College in Hutchison, Kansas. At Hutchinson, Wilson was named to the President's Honor Roll, the 2015 Jayhawk West Player of the Year, a first-team NJCAA All-American in '15, an eight-time Jayhawk Player of the Week and the NJCAA National Player of the Week once.Â
After two years at the two-year institution, Wilson transferred to NCAA Division I University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she made the Dean's Honor Roll and was a setter/outside hitter in '16. A year later, Wilson joined NCAA Division II Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, and received a medical redshirt. Wilson concluded her playing career at a program familiar to the Owls, NAIA Missouri Baptist University in Creve Couer. Taking the court as a setter/right-side hitter with the Spartans, Wilson was an honorable mention All-American Midwest Conference selection and included in the Dean's Honor Roll in '18.
Wilson graduated from Hutchison with an associate degree in 2016, Missouri Baptist with a Bachelor of Business Administration in '19 and Henderson State with a master's degree in sports administration in '21.
