(ST. LOUIS, Mo., Oct. 18)-- The William Woods University women's soccer team earned a 5-0 American Midwest Conference road victory at Harris-Stowe State University on Monday. The Owls improve to 6-7-2 on the season and 3-4-1 in the AMC.
The Owls jumped on the board in the fifth minute of play on a goal from freshman
Amy Faus (Waterloo, Ill.). Faus scored on an assist from junior
Caty Newbold (Jefferson City, Mo.). WWU added another goal in the 10th minute. Junior
Kristen Pelley (St. Peters, Mo.) scored on another assist from Newbold.
In the 49th minute of play, Newbold scored an unassisted goal to give the Owls a 3-0 advantage. She wasn't done yet. Newbold recorded another assist on a goal from senior
Katie Klingemann (St. Louis, Mo.).
William Woods finished the night with a goal from sophomore
Brittany Graue (St. Louis, Mo.). Graue scored on an assist from senior
Abrina Tainter (Lisle, Ill.) in the 85th minute.
William Woods recorded 28 shots on the afternoon. Harris-Stowe had seven shots for the match.
Freshman
Kelly Abernathy (St. Charles, Mo.) had seven saves in goal for the Owls.
WWU will return to action on October 23. The Owls will travel to Park University for another AMC match-up. Kick-off is scheduled for noon.
