(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 23)--The William Woods University men's soccer team defeated visiting Central Christian College Saturday afternoon on Firley Field. The Owls defeated the Saints 3-0. Prior to the match, William Woods recognized seniors

Matt Buddemeyer (Washington, Mo.),
Cory Herchenroeder (St. Louis, Mo.) and
Tyler Hozie (St. Charles, Mo.).
William Woods scored all three of its goals in the opening half. Junior
Ruben Ramirez (Homestead, Fla.) scored an unassisted goal in the second minute to get the Owls on the board early. It was the first goal of the year for Ramirez. Freshman
Joel De Leon (Simi Valley, Calif.) added to the WWU lead in the 18th minute. DeLeon scored an unassisted goal to push the lead to two. It was the fifth goal of the season for DeLeon.
Junior
Ivan Giovanni Velez (Sunrise, Fla.) capped the scoring in the 35th minute. Velez scored off an assist from freshman Carlos Ruben Mendoza (Lafayette, La.). Velez now has two goals on the year. Mendoza recorded his second assist.
William Woods dominated the shot totals on Saturday. WWU finished the match with 41 shots. The Owls put 13 on goal. Central Christian (10-9-1) had four shots on the afternoon. The Saints put one shot on goal.
William Woods improves to 9-6-1 on the year. They will finish the 2010 regular season on the road. The Owls will travel to William Penn University on October 26. William Woods will conclude its American Midwest Conference schedule on October 30 at Williams Baptist College.
