AMC Tournament Begins Tonight on Firley Field

The William Woods University women's soccer team will host Benedictine University-Springfield today on Firley Field.  The Owls and Bulldogs are scheduled for a 7 pm kick-off.  Tonight is the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament.

The Owls are coming off a 2-0 loss to McKendree University on October 29.  The Bearcats scored a goal in each half in the win.  Kristen Pelley led the Owls with two shots.  She had one on goal.  Kelly Abernathy recorded seven saves in goal for the Owls.  William Woods enters the tournament 7-8-2 on the season.  The Owls went 6-3-1 in conference play.
 
BU-Springfield is coming off a 6-0 loss to Union University on October 31.  The Bulldogs enter the match 1-16-1 on the season.  They concluded their first season in the AMC 0-9-1 in league play.
 
The Owls and Bulldogs met twice this season.  William Woods took the opener on September 2 in Fulton, Mo.  WWU defeated BU-S 5-0.  The Owls won game two of the series by the same score on October 1 in Springfield, Ill.  William Woods leads the all-time series between the two schools 2-0.
 
Today's winner will advance to the semifinals of the AMC postseason tournament.  That match will take place on Monday, November 7.
