Owls Kick Off Three-Game Homestand On Wednesday Against Stephens College

The William Woods University women's soccer team looks to snap its two-game losing streak on Wednesday as they host soccer debutants Stephens College. Kickoff for the American Midwest Conference match is set for 4:30 p.m.

Matchup
The Owls come into Wednesday's game in fifth in the AMC with a 2-2 record, but WWU has a game in hand against all but one of the teams sitting above them in the table. WWU has a 6-6-1 overall record on the year. Stephens is winless on the year, with a 0-2-0 league mark and a 0-3-0 overall record.

Last Time Out
William Woods dropped a 2-0 road contest to Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday afternoon. The Owls were unable to equalize after HLGU opened with a 16th-minute goal, with the hosts adding a second goal in the 56th minute.

Collecting The Points
Senior Stephanie Kirvan has collected at least one point in five of the last seven games for William Woods. She has 13 points (6g, 1a) during the stretch.

National Rankings
William Woods ranks in the top 30 in the NAIA in a pair of categories. The Owls are 32nd in the nation in assists per game with a pace of 2.08 and rank 39th with nine total assists.

Conference Rankings
As a team, the Owls rank third in the AMC in both goals/game (2.54) and assists/game (2.27). Individually, four Owls rank in the top five across a number of different categories. Sophomore Ashley Deckard is second in the conference in assists (7) and assists/game (0.58) on the year, with junior Kelly Abernathy tied for fifth in saves with 64. Senior Stephanie Kirvan is tied for fifth in goals with seven, while Jordan McNamara and Jamie Palermo are tied for 10th in the league with six goals each on the year.

A Look At Stephens College
This is the inaugural season for women's soccer at Stephens College. They are playing a very short schedule, compressing the entire season into just 42 days. The Stars have just one non-conference match on the slate, against MacMurray College.

The Stars are winless (0-3-0 overall, 0-2-0 AMC) thus far on the 2012 season, and have been outscored 43-0 in three games.

Giving Feels Good
During today's match, the William Woods University Freshman Student Activity Council will be holding a charity raffle. Fans can receive tickets for the raffle by donating new or  gently-used scarves, gloves and/or mittens, with tickets also available for purchase.

Home Sweet Home
The Owls have their first extended home stand of the season, with three straight matches at Firley Field. In addition to today's match against Stephens College, WWU hosts Missouri Baptist University on Saturday and welcomes Park University on Tuesday, October 23.

Senior Day On Tap
William Woods will host its annual senior day game on Saturday afternoon. The match against AMC rival Missouri Baptist University is set for a 3 p.m. kickoff, with the Owls honoring the team's four seniors prior to the game.
