FULTON, Mo. -- The William Woods University men's soccer team outshot Ottawa University 15-4 on Saturday afternoon, but a 36th minute Ottawa goal was the difference in the match as the Owls fell 1-0.
An Ottawa free kick led to the lone goal of the match. The ball was flighted in to the back post, with players from both teams jumping to head the ball. The ball squirted to the near post, where two Owls defenders tried to clear the ball, but it only made it as far as the top of the 18, to an open Kyler Grimes-Hopkins.
The Owls continued to press the attack in the second half, but were only able to muster two shots on goal - four total for the game - in eight chances.
WWU falls to 7-4 on the year and returns to American Midwest Conference action on Wednesday night. The Owls host Harris-Stowe State University, with kickoff set for 5 p.m.
