FULTON, Mo. -- The William Woods University women's soccer team seeks its second American Midwest Conference win on Wednesday, as they host Hannibal-LaGrange University. Kickoff for the game, presented by Casey's General Store, is set for 5 p.m.
William Woods (4-5-0, 1-0-0 AMC) is coming off its first AMC victory of the year, as they defeated Benedictine University at Springfield 4-1 last Saturday afternoon. The Owls got goals from Ashley Deckard, Jamie Palermo, Jenna Vogt, and Brooke Hendrix. It was the second goal of the year for Deckard, Palermo, and Vogt. While for Hendrix, it was her first career goal in an Owls uniform.
Hannibal-LaGrange (4-5-1, 3-0-1 AMC) comes into Wednesday's game in first place in the conference. The Lady Trojans are on a three-game winning streak with victories over Williams Baptist, Mount Mercy, and Lyon College. During the winning streak, HLGU has kept a clean sheet as they have outscored teams 13-0 during the stretch.
Game Notes
Starting Early, Holding On Late
In Saturday's victory over Benedictine University at Springfield the Owls tallied four first half goals, and took the 4-0 lead into half time. It was the most goals that William Woods has scored in a single half this season, and it was enough as they held on for the 4-1 win.
Even Distribution
It's been a total team effort this season when it comes to goal scoring for the Owls. 10 players have accounted for the 19 goals scored this season by the Owls. Jordan McNamara leads the team with five goals, while Rachel Meyer has collected three, and Ashley Deckard, Jamie Palermo, and Jenna Vogt have each put in a pair of goals. Brooke Hendrix, Katie Shikles, Desiree Strief, and Kaitlyn Wideman round out the group by posting one goal on the year.
Newcomers Impact
William Woods has a collection of newcomers that have made an immediate impact this season. Of the Owls 19 goals this year, six have come from a player who was not on the roster last year. While seven of the team's 19 assists have come from newcomers. Â
National Rankings
Sophomore Jordan McNamara's five assists is the 41st-highest total in the NAIA. As a team, the Owls have totaled 19 assists, the 36th-most in the country.
Conference Rankings
The Owls are in a tie with Lyon College for the fourth most goals scored in the conference at 19. They are also fifth in the AMC with 19 assists.
Individually, Jordan McNamara is in a tie for fifth in assists with five, while her five goals on in a tie for the eighth most in the conference. The sophomore is also sixth in the AMC in points with 15.
Road Tripping
Tuesday will be the last home game for William Woods for 10 days. It will be the longest stretch so far this season that the Owls have not played at Firley Field, as they travel to Harris-Stowe (Oct. 5) and Columbia College (Oct. 8). Â
Knowing Your Opponent – Hannibal-LaGrange
The Lady Trojans are currently in first place in the AMC with their 3-0-1 record. After starting the year 0-5-0, HLGU has not dropped a match as they are 4-5-1 on the year. Going into Wednesday's game, Hannibal-LaGrange has won three straight games. During the streak they have not allowed a goal, as they have outscored the opposition 13-0.
In fact, the Lady Trojans have allowed just one goal over its last five games, as they tied Freed-Hardeman 1-1. Â After the 0-4-0 start, Hannibal-LaGrange has outscored teams 18-1, going 4-0-1 during the stretch.
Sophomore Stephanie Hall leads the team with four goals on the season. The Beecher, Ill., native has collected three goals in her last three games, as she tallied a season-high two goals against Williams Baptist College on Sept. 24.
Junior Sarah Hammock has scored one goal in the last three games, as she has just one goal off of Hall's team-leading pace.
Hall is also tied for the team lead in assists with sophomore Anna Aims, as the duo have collected three assists each.

William Woods leads the all-time series 17-9-1.
Hannibal-LaGrange won three of the previous four meetings in this series. Last season, the Lady Trojans took the 2-0 victory in Hannibal, Mo.
The last time the Owls defeated HLGU was on Sept. 20, 2011 as they scored the 2-0 victory in Hannibal.
