FULTON, Mo. -- Junior Jamie Palermo stole the show on Senior Day as she helped the William Woods University women's soccer team collected a 9-0 American Midwest Conference victory over Williams Baptist College on Saturday afternoon.

Palermo, who has been slowed down by injuries all year, put together a strong showing on Saturday afternoon by collecting the second hat trick of her career. The Santa Fe, N.M., native got William Woods (6-6-1, 3-1-1 AMC) on the board early, as she posted a pair of goals in the game's first 16 minutes to give the Owls a 2-0 lead. She collected her third goal in the 89th minute to push the Owls lead to 9-0.

Palermo wasn't the only Owl to score multiple goals on the day, as senior Jessica Varner and junior Rachel Meyer each collected two goals. It was the first career multi-goal game for Varner, as she has now pushed her season total to a career-best four goals.  It was also the first career two-goal game for Meyer, as the junior college transfer pushed her season goal total to seven.

Sophomore Jordan McNamara extended her team-lead in goals to eight, by scoring in the 65th minute. McNamara had four points on the day, as she was credit two assists, giving her a team-best seven on the year.

Senior Ashley McCaffrey also had a career-day, as she handed out a career-best two assists to go along with a goal. It was the most points in a game for McCaffrey since the 2011 season when she scored two goals against Benedictine University at Springfield.

William Woods was just as dominate on the defensive side of the ball as they were on offense. The Owls held Williams Baptist College (0-13, 0-7 AMC) to just one shot on the afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Kelly Abernathy, who saw her first action since Aug. 31, returned to goal and played all 90 minutes to collect the 10th shutout of her career.

It will be a short break for William Woods, as they return to action tomorrow afternoon against Stephens College. Kickoff for game at Cosmo Park Field #3 is set for 4 p.m.
