Owls Take On Crosstown Rival Westminster College On Wednesday Night

FULTON, Mo. -- The William Woods University women's soccer team will play its first game of the 2013 season away from Firley Field, but they won't be going too far, as they travel to crosstown rival Westminster College. Kick-off is set for 8 p.m.

William Woods (2-3) are coming off a 2-1 loss to Lindenwood University-Belleville on Sunday afternoon. It was their second consecutive loss, as the Owls dropped an 8-1 decision to Culver-Stockton last Tuesday.

The Owls will look to get in some kind of offensive rhythm on Wednesday, as they have been held to just two goals over the last two games.  Rachel Meyer leads the Owls with two goals, while seven other players have contributed a goal this season.

The Lynx got a pair of goals in the game's first 20 minutes. A lighting delay would haul the game for 30 minutes, and right out of the break Jenna Vogt scored her career first goal to cut the WWU deficit in half. That would be as close as the Owls would get as they dropped their second consecutive game.

Just like the Owls, Westminster College (2-3-1) is coming into Wednesday's game on a losing note. The Lady Blue Jays suffered a 3-1 setback to Simpson College. Freshman Adrienne Ebersole's first career goal marked the only Westminster score on the evening.

LaTayisah Ousley leads the team in goals with five. The sophomore forward has collected a pair of two-goal games on the year, most recently coming on Sept. 7 against University of the Ozarks.

William Woods leads 5-1-1 in the all-time series that dates back to 1989. The Owls took home the 3-2 victory last season at Firley Field, it was the first meeting between the two Fulton, Mo., schools in seven years.
