Box Score FULTON, Mo. -- The William Woods University women's soccer team couldn't overcome a late goal score by Missouri Valley College, as they fell 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
William Woods (3-4) allowed a goal to Missouri Valley's Kendra Clamors in the 83rd minute, as the Lady Vikings were able to squeeze out the road victory.
Missouri Valley (6-1-1) collected 22 shots on the day, yet the Owls defense was able to withstand it as goalkeeper
Brittany Griffin collected a career-high nine saves.
The Owls had a few chances to break through with a goal throughout the game, but they were unable too, as they managed just nine shot, leaving them with their first scoreless game of the year.
Freshman
Jenna Vogt gave William Woods its best scoring opportunity of the day in the 64th minute, as she was faced with a one-on-one against the Missouri Valley goalkeeper. Vogt's shot was right at the goalie, as she was unable to break the scoreless tie.
Haley Ennis sent the ball past the Owls defense to find an open Clamors in the box. The junior forward was able to find the back of the net to give Missouri Valley the 1-0 lead in the 83rd minute.
William Woods wasn't able to put together a solid scoring chance in the game's final seven minutes, as they fell to Missouri Valley College 1-0.
The Owls will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Central Methodist University. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
