FAYETTE, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team falls short on the road to Central Methodist University in a 2-1 (2OT) decision, Thursday night.

The loss snaps the Owls (7-6-2; 6-1-2AMC) four game winning streak and is the fourth game that has had to go into extra time this season however, WWU hasn't found the answer to grab a game-winning goal in over time.

Despite being outshot 11-1 in the first half, the Owls made its only attempt count, as
Rachel Meyer found the back of the net in the 31
st minute, giving WWU the early 1-0 lead.

The Eagles would then get on the board at the 73:45 mark, as Nicki Noreen connected with teammate Kelsey Vanzant for the equalizing goal and tying it up 1-1.

At the end of regulation, the score would remain tied, in spite of the Owls being outshot 22-4, and it was off to extra time at Davis Field.

In the first over time, Meyer had a chance to win it for William Woods, but couldn't capitalize on an empty net, as her shot went wide. Neither team could find the game-winning goal and 10 more extra minutes were needed.

As the second over time was coming to an end, Eagles' Bola Adeoba header scored the game winning goal, giving CMU a 2-1 victory after 108:22 minutes of play. The win gave the Eagles the sweep of the series on the season against WWU.

Offensively, the Owls were lead by Meyer, who scored the lone goal for WWU, her sixth on the season and tallied three shots on the night.

Sophomore goalkeeper,
Brittany Griffin, continues to have a stunning season, as she posted a career-high 13 saves on the night and pushing her season total to 59.

The Owls return to action on Saturday afternoon, as the team travels to American Midwest Conference (AMC) new- comer Lindenwood University at Belleville. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
