FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team suffers a tough 1-0 deficit to American Midwest Conference (AMC) standing leader Columbia College, Tuesday night.

The Owls (3-5-2; 2-1-2) couldn't overcome a CC first half goal, even tough the team tried to light a spark in the final frame, as WWU was outshot 24-8 against the AMC rival.

The Cougars would get on the board first at the 20th minute mark, as Mallory Page laced a ball from midfield over the William Woods defense, while Kelly Ross received the pass and found the back of the net, giving Columbia College a 1-0 lead.

The Owls would hold the Cougars scoreless for the rest of the first half, however, it wasn't an easy task, as WWU was outshot 18 to two.

In the final frame, WWU offensive came out more aggressively, as the team put pressure on the Cougars defensive by recording three quick shots within the first ten minutes.

Despite the Owls effort to try to get some momentum in the second half, the team couldn't poke an equalizer goal past the Cougars goalkeeper, Flavia Rosado.

After 90:00 minutes of scoreless play from both squads, the score remained the same, securing CC the 1-0 road victory and giving the Cougars its fifth AMC win on the season.

The Owls were lead in the shot department by
Jordan McNamara, who recorded three shots, while senior
Jamie Palermo, added two shots in the match-up.

Sophomore goalkeeper,
Brittany Griffin, collected five saves on the night, pushing her total to 47 on the year.

WWU returns to play on Saturday, as the team pays a visit to Lindenwood University-Belleville for another AMC match-up, set for a 1:00p.m. kick-off.
