BATESVILLE, Ark. – The William Woods University volleyball team swept Lyon College in three straight sets (25-24, 25-22, 25-23) on Friday night, to pick up the victory in its first match on the weekend.
The Owls (12-9; 2-0 AMC), started its two-day road trip down south on a strong note, by gaining momentum with a three set sweep over the Scots (7-8; 3-3 AMC), to collect its second American Midwest Conference (AMC) win on the season.
After having a little of a rocky start in the first set, WWU closed out the match with 42 kills and an attack percentage of .348 as a team.
Senior,
Lauren Rodewald led the way with 11 kills, while only committing one error on the night, as she also collected the team's lone block.
Stephanie Davis chipped in 10 kills, for a team-high .450 attack percentage, while
Brittney Engelbrecht added seven kills and handed out 36 assists.
On the defensive side, freshman
Melanie Kala paced the Owls with 16 digs, as
Emily Becker earned 10.
William Woods will get right back to work tomorrow, as the team pays a visit to Williams Baptist College to wrap up its AMC weekend road trip in Arkansas. The first serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
