DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—The (RV) William Woods University softball team saw its six-game winning streak get snapped on Sunday afternoon, as the Owls fell in game one 3-2 and game two 3-0 against Embry-Riddle University.

Allison Waskow and Eagles (15-11; 1-1 The Sun Conference) starter Robi Zimmerman, as the duo held each opposing offense scoreless through four innings of work.

It was William Woods, however, striking first in the top of the fifth, as
Hannah Campbell reached base on a one out infield single. After advancing to second on a wild pitch, Campbell was brought home two batters later by senior
Kacey Scharnhorst, as she singled to left field, tallying her 18
th RBI on the year and giving the Owls a 1-0 advantage.

After Waskow made quick work of the Eagles in the home half of the fifth, in the top of the sixth,
Brailee Schulte hit a two out double to left field and she was able to score two pitches later, as
Shelby LeCuru traded places with Schulte, hitting a double down the left field line and extending the teams' lead to 2-0.

Julie Scheer then came to the dish as a pinch-hitter and was able to single up the middle, but LeCuru was thrown out at home from centerfield, which kept the game at 2-0.

That score remained the same until the bottom of the seventh, as after Waskow got Raquelli Bianco to strikeout, but Taylor Cowan was able to work a one out walk. Haleigh Lewis came up next and singled up the middle, which placed the tying run on first and brought up the pitcher, Zimmerman, to the plate as the winning run.

It was a battle between Waskow and Zimmerman, but on the seventh pitch of the at-bat, Zimmerman hit her first home run on the season over the left field wall, giving the Eagles a walk-off one run victory, while handing WWU a heartbreaking defeat.

Despite being handed the loss, Waskow was dominant all afternoon inside the circle, as she went 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out nine batters.

Offensively, the team totaled nine hits, and were led by Schulte going 3-for-3 with one run scored. Campbell went 2-for-3 with one run scored from the leadoff spot, while Scharnhorst, LeCuru, Scheer and
Sam Parsons added one hit each.

Zimmerman, who hit the game winning homer, also picked up the victory, as she went 7.0 innings, allowing two runs on nine hits and struck out six.

Embry-Riddle University 3 William Woods University 0 In game two, Embry-Riddle jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, as Anna Battison scored on a wild pitch, after reaching base to lead off the inning with a single.

It would remain 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth inning, as Cowan was able to reach base on a fielder's choice, then after stealing second, Bianco hit the 3-1 offering from Owls starter
Bre Logan over the right center field wall, to extend the teams' lead out to 3-0 over WWU.

The Owls, however, would continue to battle and in the top of the seventh,
Alexi Cavins led things off with a single to left field. After a strikeout, Campbell was able to reach base on a fielder's choice, but Eagles starter Bianco was able to erase any type of threat WWU would have liked to get going, as she struck out the final batter of the game and secured the three run victory for Embry-Riddle.

Logan, a Columbia, Missouri, native, was handed the tough loss, as she went 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and struck out two.

At the plate, the team totaled six hits, led by
Caroline Sicht going 2-for-3. Campbell,
Sydnae Hatton, Scheer, and Cavins added one hit each.

Bianco pitched a stellar game on the mound for the Eagles in the win, as she went 7.0 innings, allowing no runs on six hits and struck out nine. Offensively, the team was limited to four hits, with three of which coming off the bat of Battison.

The Owls will look to get back on the winning track in Claremont, Florida, tomorrow afternoon, as they take on the University of Northwestern Ohio at 1 p.m., followed by West Virginia Institute of Technology at 3 p.m.

UNOH (4-6), is coming off two losses in its last time out, as they fell to Southeastern (Fla.), 10-0 in game one and 15-10 in game two.

On the season, the Racers are batting .337 as a team and are led by Maranda Stansbery's .500 average (17-for-34) in 10 games played, as she has totaled 10 runs scored and three RBI. Camile Martin is hitting an impressive .448 (13-for-29), with one home run and five RBI, while Shelby Lucas is hitting .300 and leads the team with 11 runs scored.

The power in the lineup comes off the bat of Macey Harder, who is 11-for-32 (.344 avg) on the year, with seven runs scored, one home run and a team-high 11 RBI.

On the rubber, UNOH owns a 7.12 team ERA, but are led by Erica Gulik's 4.20 ERA in six appearances. She has picked up three wins on the year, while striking out six batters in 21.2 innings of work.

Chelsea Miller, meanwhile, is 1-2 in her four starts, has a 5.43 ERA and leads the team with 13 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched.

At 3 p.m., the Owls will take on the Golden Bears' (4-8), who split its doubleheader action the last time they were on the diamond, as they won game one against Shawnee State 11-2, but fell in the nightcap, 8-6.

On the year, the team is batting .279 and are led by Kayla Harbin's .368 average (14-for-38), with five runs scored and seven RBI. Kat Lively is hitting .366, while leading the team in runs scored (12), home runs (three), RBI (11) and slugging percentage (.707).

Inside the circle, WVU Tech is led by Mackenzie Wilson's 4-1 record and 3.59 ERA in 11 appearances on the rubber. She has thrown in 41.0 innings, earned one shutout and leads the team with 39 strikeouts, while holding opposing hitters to a .201 batting average.
