CHESTERFIELD, Mo.—The William Woods University softball team was able to close out the 2015 regular season on a seven game winning streak, as the Owls cruised past St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Wednesday, winning game one 11-2 (6 innings) and game two 13-0 (5 innings).
William Woods University 11 St. Louis College of Pharmacy 2 In game one, it was the Eutectics (6-26; 3-21 AMC), taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third, as Taylor Underwood brought home Erica Earnest and Kate Toler.

The Owls (27-22; 16-8 AMC), got one of those runs back in the top of the fourth and then were able to take its first lead of the game in the top of the fifth, scoring two runs and taking a 3-2 advantage.

William Woods put the game away in the top of the sixth, scoring eight runs, to take an 11-2 lead. Freshman starter,
Allison Waskow, was able to shut down STLCOP in the bottom of the sixth and secure the nine run win for WWU.

Waskow, picked up her 11
th win on the year, as she went 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and struck out six.

Offensively, the Owls added eight hits, including two home runs, coming off the bats of
Hillary Hentges, who smashed a pinch-hit grand slam in the sixth and
Brailee Schulte, who hit a two run shot of her own. Schulte finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Madison McCormick went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI, while
Hannah Campbell,
Julie Scheer and
Kacey Scharnhorst contributed one hit each.

William Woods University 13 St. Louis College of Pharmacy 0It was more of the same story in game two, as the Owls plated 13 runs on 14 hits, scoring three runs in the first, one in the second and exploded for nine in the fourth, as they went on for the 13 run victory.

Offensively and at the mound, WWU was led by senior
Julie Scheer, who at the plate, went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI, while on the rubber, she picked up the win, going 5.0 innings, allowing no runs on two hits and struck out six Eutectics in the process.

The 4-5 hitters of
Caroline Sicht and
Shelby LeCuru combined to go 3-for-6 with two runs scored and six RBI, while the bottom half of the order of,
Sam Parsons,
Grace Fritz,
Megan Cooper and
Brittany Bexten added one hit each and combined for three RBI.

Sydnae Hatton went 2-for-3 with one run scored at the leadoff spot, while Scharnhorst, went 1-for-1 with one run scored and one RBI.

The Owls will now have a six day layoff, as they will prepare for the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tournament, which is set to begin on April 29
th through May 1
st at Antimi Softball Complex, in Columbia, Missouri.
