Owls Score Season-High Five Goals In Shutout Win Over St. Louis College Of Pharmacy

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The William Woods University women's soccer team picked up its first American Midwest Conference (AMC) victory on the year, as they shutout the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Eutectics, 5-0.

The Owls (3-4-1; 1-2 AMC), who were coming off a season-high three goals against Southwestern Christian, tied that amount in the first half alone, as senior Jordan McNamara, a Blue Springs, Missouri, native, netted her third goal on the season, on an assist from Halle Schroeder, to give WWU a 1-0 lead at the 9:49 mark.

Just over two minutes later, Renee Meyer scored her second goal in as many games, assisted by Schroeder and Jaclyn Zilch, to make it 2-0. Then, at the 14:51 mark, Mackenzie Cork found the back of the net for the first time this season, to extend the teams' advantage out to 3-0.

The offense continued its pressure as the half went on, as they outshot the Eutectics (1-7; 0-5 AMC), 4-1, but the score remained the same as the horn sounded, with WWU heading into the break, up by three goals.

In the second half, WWU pushed its lead out to 4-0, as in the 58th minute, Elyssa Cappaert also scored her first goal on the year. The team went on to add a fifth and final goal in the 66th minute, as Hailey LaCroix netted her first collegiate goal, on assists from Meyer and Shelby Wiebe.

The team dominated the outing from start-to-finish, finishing with a season-high five goals and 22 shots, while defensively, they limited STLCOP on three shots. Wiebe led the team with five shots, while Annie Graber added four, with three landing on goal. Schroeder had a strong game, having a career-high three assists, while Meyer filled up the stat sheet, having one goal and two assists.

In net, Ashley Parisi and Rebecca Sturgess combined for the shutout, as they made two saves in 90:00 minutes of action.

After a long road-trip, the team returns back to Firley Field on Wednesday night, as the Owls host Culver-Stockton College. Kick-off starts at 5 p.m.

This will be the fifth meeting in a row between the Owls and Wildcats (4-1-1; 1-0 HAAC), who hold the advantage with a 2-0-2 record in those meetings.

This season, C-SC will be looking for its third straight win, as they defeated Graceland University, 2-1, in its last time out. The Wildcats got goals from Alyx Seats and Erin Kelley, while goaltender Abby Mikesell made six saves in the game.

On the year, the Wildcats have outscored its opponents 7-3, and are led by Brittney McMahon having two goals and three assists, for a team-high seven points. Five other players, meanwhile, have scored one goal.

In goal, Mikesell, has played in all six games, totaling 580:00 minutes, while making 27 saves for a save percentage of .900 and allowing just three goals.
