HANNIBAL, Mo. – The William Woods University Women's Soccer team won its sixth straight contest as they defeated Hannibal-LaGrange University, 2-0, for the sixth shutout of the season. The Owls improved to 7-6-1 on the season and 6-3 in American Midwest Conference action.
WWU outshot the Trojans 12-10 and 8-2 on shots on goals in the game. The Owls two goals were scored by
Halle Schroeder and
Jenna Vogt. WWU had assists by
Shelby Scanlan,
Shelby Wiebe and
Rochelle Garcia in the contest.
Rebecca Sturgess recorded two saves for her fifth shutout of the season.
The Owls return to action on Monday, October 24th when they host Park University in American Midwest Conference action. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
Game Flow
The Owls had the first shot of the game as Wiebe has her shot went wide. WWU had a shot by
Brooke Hendrix had a shot on goal that was saved Rose Morran.
After the Owls two shots, the Trojans offense had the next four shots of the contest. Kendal Welch had the first shot on goal for Hannibal-LaGrange, as Sturgess made the save. The next three shots for the Trojans were wide of the goal.
WWU had two more shots on goal that were saved by Morran before the Owls got on the board. With 16:12 left in the first half,

The Trojans had a shot with 18 seconds left in the contest, as Kylee Hamilton shot hit the crossbar keeping the Owls ahead, 1-0, going into the halftime.
The Owls extended its lead 29 seconds into the second half.
Rochelle Garcia found
Jenna Vogt who scored the second goal for WWU. This was Vogt's first goal of the season.
WWU continued to put shots on the Trojans Jaclyn Zlich put two shots on goal but Morran made the save for the Trojans. The Owls shots continued as Vogt had a shot go wide of the goal.
With under 20 minutes to go in the contest, the Owls defense did not allow a shot by the Trojans as they Owls came away with a 2-0 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange for the Owls sixth consecutive win and the sixth shutout of the season.
