With just over four minutes to go in the first half of the contest, Emily Key broke the scoreless tie. Key, scored her 24th goal of the season, as she beat Sturgess. Key's shot went by the outstretched hands of Sturgess, hit the post and crossed the goal line giving Park a 1-0 lead.

The Owls looked as if they were going to answer late in the first half. With just under two minutes to go in the contest, Schroeder had a header that just went over the crossbar. The Owls would find themselves down 1-0 at halftime.

Like the first half, the Owls looked as if they were going to get on the board early in the second half, as Hendrix had a shot that went off the post. After Hendrix shot, the Pirates had two shots on goal that was saved by Sturgess.

With 36:50 left in the contest, the Owls tied the match at 1-1 after Schroeder lofted a shot over the Pirates goalkeeper.

After Schroeder's goal, the game remained tied at 1-1 until there was just under 23 minutes to go in the game. The Pirates broke the tie when Lydia Parker sent a cross into the box that Emma Chatterton took and beat Sturgess putting the Pirates ahead, 2-1.

WWU kept the offensive pressure on the Pirates as Hendrix put a shot on goal that was saved by Roskell less than two minutes after Park's goal. Later in the half, Alexis Willingham fired a shot on goal that Roskell again made the save. Schroeder took the last shot for the Owls but her shot went wide and the Owls would be defeated, 2-1, by Park.
