LAWRENCE, Kan. – Senior
Trey Mitchell hit a three-point field goal lifting the William Woods University Men's Basketball team to an 80-79Â overtime victory at Haskell Indian Nations University on Saturday Afternoon.

Mitchell and
Brandon Vice led the Owls with 20 points apiece in the victory.
Jonny Woolf followed with 16 points and
Klayton Kuschel scored 10 points to round out the double-figure scorers for the Owls in the victory. Vice led the Owls with nine rebounds, while Mitchell followed with eight.

William Woods returns to action on Tuesday, December 13th when they travel to Hannibal, Missouri to face Hannibal-LaGrange University in American Midwest Conference action. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Game Flow
The Owls offense got off to a slow start from behind the arc as WWU went 3-for-10 from behind the arc in the first half of the contest. WWU shot 37 first half while Haskell shot 46 percent from the floor. After the first 20 minutes of action the Owls found themselves down, 33-28, at halftime.

WWU's offense started heating up in the second half as the Owls shot 55 percent in the second half of the contest. In the Owls second half and overtime of the contest, WWU hit eight-of-12 three pointers.

Late in the second half, the Owls found themselves down one point, and
Jonny Woolf hit one-of-two from the free throw line to force overtime against Haskell. In overtime, the Owls found themselves down three, with 15 seconds to go in the game.
Trey Mitchell had the ball on top of the key and hit his second three-pointer of the contest, putting the Owls ahead, 80-79. Haskell had one last chance to score but the Owls defense stopped them and WWU came away with an 80-79 victory. The win was the eighth win of the season for the Owls.
